Sewer or septic comes first
Milton's zoning has long favored larger, septic-dependent lots, while Fulton County Public Works provides wastewater service to its customers. Some Fulton County accounts are water-only with no county sewer service. Knowing which system a home uses tells the plumber where to look and tells the cleanup crew what to expect.
What gets removed
Sewage wicks upward through porous materials, so cuts are made above the visible waterline.
- Carpet and pad that touched sewage
- Drywall and trim wicked above the waterline
- Insulation and cabinet kicks soaked through
- Hard surfaces are cleaned and disinfected instead
Protective steps
Crew members wear protective gear, and the work area is contained so contamination does not travel to clean rooms. Everything removed is bagged and hauled away so the odor and bacteria leave with it. When a backup fills a lower level, basement flooding cleanup applies, and clean-water cases follow water extraction.
