Only where a crawl space exists
Not every Woodstock home has a crawl space, so this work applies only where one exists. The crew first confirms access and what sits below the floor, because a wet slab, a flooded basement and a flooded crawl space each call for a different plan.
Removing water and wet insulation
Standing water is pumped out first. Wet insulation hangs against the subfloor and keeps it damp, so it is pulled down and bagged. Joists, the underside of the floor and any wood framing are then measured with a meter and dried with air movers sized for a tight space, much like structural drying elsewhere in the house.
Checking the floor above
Moisture under a house can rise into the flooring, so the rooms above are checked as well. Hardwood may cup, subfloor can swell and baseboards can lift. The readings from below and above are compared to decide whether the job is finished or needs another day of drying.
