Ordinary rain is enough
Alpharetta sees measurable precipitation on about 103 days a year, so a roof leak can follow a normal rainy week as easily as a storm. The weight of wet insulation can pull a ceiling down, and a small stain can hide a much larger wet area above it.
Following the water down
The crew checks the attic with a moisture meter and a thermal camera, removes wet insulation and opens ceiling sections where water collected. Wet drywall is cut out, and carpet or flooring below is extracted if water reached it. A roofer repairs the opening, then the interior moves on to structural drying, and an emergency tarp can limit more rain from coming in, which matters when more rain follows within days.
Drying before the repair
Air movers and dehumidifiers dry the framing, the ceiling cavity and the walls before new drywall goes up. A leak that began at a roof edge can send water into a wall as well, and a similar path is covered under ceiling leak water damage in town.
